We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated individual to join the Product Management Team reporting to the Technical Writing Manager. They will be responsible for creating/maintaining user-facing medical device documentation for our diagnostic product range, as well as technical documents for our Life Science market such as end-to-end protocols, product manuals, the Oxford Nanopore Store catalogue, and application-specific documentation.
The role…
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated individual to join the Product Management Team reporting to the Technical Writing Manager. They will be responsible for creating and maintaining user-facing medical device documentation for our diagnostic product range, as well as technical documents for our Life Science market.

As the Oxford Nanopore product performance and offering expand, so too does the desire of users to have an end-to-end sequencing solution: starting with raw sample extraction and preparation, to sequencing, to data analysis. In addition, we are building up our diagnostic product portfolio, bringing the technology to customers who may be unfamiliar with sequencing. The Technical Writer role is critical to the success of these products, as they require simple and clear instructions and communication of technical concepts to unfamiliar users. This role offers the opportunity to build very strong relationships with Oxford Nanopore Diagnostics, R&D, Applications, and the Commercial team.
The details…
The Technical Writer will be responsible for:
- Managing the following portfolio of documentation: - Diagnostic products: Instructions for Use (IFU) and user manuals
- Life Science products: Sample extraction and pre-treatment protocols, library preparation protocols, sequencing device user manuals, software user manuals, data analysis user manuals, Store catalogue content
- Working closely with the product development and customer-facing teams to understand how the product works and how it is used by customers
- Playing an active role in improving our documentation and writing processes
- Assisting the UX team in testing the usability of written documentation
The Technical Writer will generate documentation using a designated content management system and will also be using a range of content creation and editing software.
What we're looking for…
Required:
- A degree in molecular biology or related science degree
- 3+ years of experience in writing SOPs, technical writing, or medical writing
- Excellent written communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the capability to simplify complex information
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
- Collaboration/people skills
Advantageous:
- A PhD in molecular biology or a related science
- Knowledge of the ISO 13485 standard
